GALA 2022

From the Desk of Terrie Williams, CEO of Terrie M Williams Expansion, Inc.

Terrie M Williams Expansion, Inc. invite you to join us as we reflect on the problems of homelessness in our state. According to Housing Alliance Delaware's 2024 Point-In-Time Count, “approximately 1,358 people are experiencing homelessness in the First State. More than one in four of those experiencing homelessness are children”. The 2024 PIT Count is a 9% increase from 2023, and highest on record in Delaware, not including 2021-2022/COVID-19 years. Since 2020, the unsheltered count has increased by 58% (Housing Alliance Delaware, Pit Count, Jan 2024). Fortunately, compassionate and informed citizens, such as yourselves, understand the reality of these problems and feel compelled to contribute to the solution. Providing housing assistance and advocacy are at the heart of our mission. From March 2022 to present, we have assisted over 750 families and individuals with rental, utility, security, storage, motel stay, food, clothing, book bags, toys and supplies along with hosting financial and estate planning workshops to name some of the many services that we provide. Clients received over a quarter million dollars in financial housing stability assistance. Our resources stretch to those that are homeless; citizens transitioning from prison; Veterans; the LGBTQ community; widows; the elderly; and the disabled to name a few.

Thank you to donors and sponsors, together we were able to reach a major goal of acquiring our very first 7-bedroom, shared living property. Our ongoing goal is to acquire homes to be renovated for our underserved and vulnerable population. We are seeking to purchase a motel/hotel; multi and single-family homes; along with land. Our long-term goal is to raise 2.5 million dollars. Our immediate short term goal is a quarter of million dollars. This is needed to provide basic needs for the coming year (storage, rent, security, motel, identification, securing property etc.). Upholding these intentions requires substantial financial support. As a nonprofit organization, we receive some funding from governmental sources but the foundation of our financial health derives from the generous contributions of conscientious citizens. We appeal to you today to become a lifesaver and help us improve the quality of another person’s life. You may invest in one of the partnership plans below by mail;

All the best,
