Denyse Corbett
Born on the West Indian Island of Trinidad and Tobago, I developed my passion for community involvement and where I experienced first-hand the struggles families dealt with on a daily basis. I was brought up to show kindness and respect to every individual and to give freely no matter how little it may be.
At the tender age of 6 I experienced the loss of my older sister, before I could truly understand the concept of death. At age 19, right after I had my first daughter, I lost my mother. These were things that I was not prepared for, but has shaped me to not take small things for granted, to cherish the time that we have here on earth and the power of a strong family bond. After having 3 daughters, I decided I wanted more opportunities for me and my girls. In September of 1996, I decided to take a leap of faith when I moved to America and joined the United States Army, where I would get the opportunity to serve for the country and provide for my family, simultaneously. Though an injury caused me to have to end my term sooner than expected, I appreciated the journey I took and the opportunities that it led me to.
Since leaving the army, I started my journey at an entry level banking position. Over the years as my experience and passion in banking had grown. As a professional in the Banking Industry, I have now been in banking for over 20 years and now serve as a Branch Operation Officer AVP at FCCB. Some of my professional attributes includes strong leadership skills, great problem solver, excellent communication skills and great work ethics. I am a family-oriented individual with a passion for serving the community. I am the mother to 4 girls, grandmother to 3 grandsons and a granddaughter. Though the path to where I am contained roadblocks, curve balls and hurdles, it made me into the best version of Denyse Corbett that I could be.
